“A Storm Gathers” – Final Fantasy XIII’s Next Step

Aug 22, 2012

Square Enix recently posted a teaser on their website regarding the next chapter in the Final Fantasy XIII saga.

The announcement for the Final Fantasy XIII saga will be revealed this coming September 1 in Shibuya, Tokyo, in an event celebrating 25 Years of Final Fantasy. Along with the event, an exhibit will also be held on location, showcasing different items and merchandise related to the Final Fantasy franchise. Among the highlights of the exhibition are the original works of famous artist Yoshitaka Amano.

Despite dispelling the rumors about Final Fantasy Versus XIII’s demise, Square Enix has yet to announce any further updates about the said vaporware-to-be game. The company also has not confirmed any announcement about the Versus XIII game in the upcoming 25th Anniversary Celebration.

However, Square Enix has confirmed that they will be releasing an update regarding Lightning’s fate in the Final Fantasy XIII story. This could be the upcoming Final Fantasy XIII-3 sequel we reported as a rumor last year. If you recall, the rumor surfaced when the domain “finalfantasyxiii-3.com” was taken by domain registrar Corporate Service Company, a company Square Enix uses to purchase top-level domains for their games like Nier, and Final Fantasy XIII-2. If this announcement is indeed a XIII sequel, let’s hope that Lightning gets more action in this next game, since she lost the spotlight back in XIII-2.

Lots of activities and events are lined up prior to and during the 25th Anniversary Celebration of Final Fantasy. Details can be found on its official site.
