Better Late than Never: Megacon Day 1 and Day 2

Posted on May 26th, 2011 by Shinoda

Megacon seemed like a hurriedly organized convention, such a scenario becoming already infamous and associated with its organizers. Still, I went to this convention to help out with the My Little Prince wig shop’s booth. Despite having limited advertising and promotion, the convention had quite the surprising number of cute cosplayers. There were more cosplayers and other people that attended in the second day of the event.

The event was co-organized by Zoe TV, Kitkat, and Zed. Performers from ZOE TV comprised the majority of the performances in Day 1 of the event, which made the convention look like a feature from the mass-oriented show “Showtime.” There were numerous dance numbers, solo singers, and group singers that one may think that they’re actually attending a noontime show instead of an anime fair. The DotA tournament was also started on Day 1, and it did get a huge crowd of spectators and onlookers.

The cosplay competition was held in the second day, but it had to be delayed for several hours to make way for the performances of the New Generation, a group from the ZOE TV channel. There was also some dance and song performances from different K-Pop cover groups like Boys Generation and Cloud Nine, among others. A KitKat dance contest was also held, and it was a dance showdown among some of the event attendees. The DotA tournament that was also being held inside the event premises had also experienced time setbacks. Even the cosplay catwalk had to be moved outside of the stage area because of fear of having the stage collapse, which limited the skits and movements of the cosplayers that joined the competition.

Pront, Mark, and I kept on coming back to that KitKat booth to get some free samples of the new Kitkat bites. We were quite stuffed with the number of free Kitkat bites that we took from their booth. LOL!
