Cherry Convention x Alodia’s Birthday Bash (UPDATE: Minor corrections)

Feb 15, 2013

Okay, to keep you guys up to speed, let me take you back to last year’s Pinoy Gaming Festival organized by Rapture Gaming. If you recall, Cherry Credits was a major sponsor of the event, and had a separate stage for their programs (particularly the Cherry Cosfiesta). From what I gather (correct me if I’m wrong though), there was an unexpected overcrowding issue during Day 1 of PGF. This overcrowdedness was so severe that attendees were sent home by mall security despite having already purchased tickets. It wasn’t only until Day 2 when the next hall was opened to accommodate the influx of attendees. So, to compensate the inconvenience received by the attendees during the event, people bearing UNUSED PGF tickets will be their free pass into the next event Cherry Credits is organizing, as announced by Mr. Addison Kang. Therefore, many months later, Cherry Credits announces their first major event of 2013, CHERRY CONVENTION 2013.

The face of Dragon Nest SEA, Mr. Addison Kang, announced the event on his Facebook page, reaffirming his post-PGF promise of a free pass for PGF attendees. Cherry Convention is set for March 9 and 10 at the SM Megamall Megatrade Halls 1 and 2.

Again, we would like to stress out that only UNUSED PGF Tickets will be accepted as a free pass to the Cherry Convention 2013 event.

The main highlight of the 2-day Cherry Convention is the COSPLAY CONCERTO. This cosplay competition is separated into two different categories (just like Cherry Cosfiesta last year): Mecha & Open Category, and Dragon Nest Category. The Open Category cosplay will happen on the 9th of March, while the Dragon Nest category will culminate on the 10th.

As sent in by Marketing Manager for Cherry Credits, Alvin Reyes:

Cherry Convention 2013 will be hosting one of the biggest Cosplay Competitions of the year titled – Cosplay Concerto! Over 70,000pesos in prize money up for grabs! Prepare your costumes and pre-register NOW!

Yeah, that’s FIVE zeroes on the prize money.

Aside from the Cosplay Concerto segment, March 9 will also mark the birthday of cosplay veteran and celebrity (and recently part of a Japanese idoru group), Alodia Gosiengfiao. Expect to have Alodia’s Birthday Bash held at the Cherry Convention 2013. She’ll also be part of the judges panel for the cosplay competition. (Correction: Alodia isn’t a judge, but she is a special guest in the event! Cherry Credits has selected 3 veteran judges, all of whom will be revealed in due time).

Entrance to the event (for those without PGF tickets on hand) will be 250PhP per day.
Cosplay registration can be done online via the Cosplay Concerto/ Cherry Convention official site. Cosplayers registering on-site have to shell out an additional 250PhP to be eligible for the Cosplay Concerto. Cosplay Concerto contestants are advised to register online, since they will only need to purchase and top-up 7200CCs / Php250 worth of Cherry Credits. This will already serve as BOTH their Cosplay Competition Registration Fee AND Entrance ticket to the Event. (This is compared to the more expensive 250PhP entrance ticket + 250PhP on-site Cosplay Concerto registration)
