May 10, 2013

Shounen baseball manga “Daia no A” (ダイヤのA) or “Ace of Diamond” has been greenlighted for an anime adaptation.
The anime adaptation of Terajima Yuuji’s series will be part of the Fall 2013 lineup of anime shows. The anime production will be a tag team between two anime industry giants: Madhouse and Production I.G., both of which have a plethora of titular anime series in their portfolio.

No announcement has been made yet regarding the cast and crew of the series. Details to follow soon enough.

Daia no A tells the story of Sawamura Eijun, a naturally-gifted pitcher attending a countryside high school. He accidentally ends up getting teamed together with a catcher from a different high school baseball team. Having played together, Sawamura decides to leave his countryside school and transfer to the high school where his catcher attends. There, he begins his high school baseball career.

Daia no A has been serialized in Weekly Shounen Magazine since 2006. The manga has won the Shogakukan Manga Award for the shounen category in 2008, and the Kodansha Manga Award in 2010. Currently there are around a hundred chapters in the series, and is still ongoing.

A twitter account (@diaace_anime) related to the anime is also made online in accordance to the announcement.
