Web manga, Kotoura-san, is getting an anime adaptation. The announcement came from the official website just recently.
The 4-panel romantic fantasy manga is written by Enokids, published online by MICRO MAGAZINE. The said 4-panel manga is free to read on the website. However, volumes of Kotoura-san are still selling like hotcakes. Volume 3, in particular, has already sold 100,000 copies.
The studio responsible for the anime adaptation will be AIC Classic. The staff will be apparently a reunion of former Mitsudomoe and Yuruyuri. At the directorial helm is Masahiko Ohta, the director for Mitsudomoe and Yuruyuri. Takashi Aoshima will be for character design, and Takaharu Okuma as the animation director.
Kotoura-san is all about Kotoura Haruko, a girl with the ability to read minds. Her ability has caused her to be socially withdrawn, until she transfers to a new town and school. She gains new friends in her new school’s ESP club.
The 4-panel manga has won “Manga of the Year” last 2009 in the website Manga Gotcha!
