A new teaser trailer for the live action adaptation of the epic Science Ninja Team, Gachaman, has been released recently. Just like your typical Japanese teasers, there’s not much to see except walls of text, some dramatic conversations, and a revelation of the actors. Gachaman’s teaser also shows the team’s modernized helmets, adding a more technological vibe to it.
The cast is headed by Tori Matsuzaka, also known as Shiba Takeru in the Samurai Sentai Shinkenger. He portrays the leader of the team, Ken Washio. Joining Matsuzaka is Ayame Gouriki as Jun, the only girl in the team. Gouriki is also slated to portray Ciel Phantomhive in the upcoming Kuroshitsuji movie next year (2014). Ryohei Suzuki, who played Souichiro Akashi in the live-action Hana-Kimi drama, will portray Ryu Nakanishi. Gou Ayano, who portrayed the masked villain Gein in the Rurouni Kenshin live action film, is also in the Gachaman roster as Jo Asakura. Completing the roster is the child actor, Tatsuomi Hamada, as Jinpei.
The Gachaman live action film will be faithful to the original series, with a team formed to fight against the evil forces of Galactor.
Gachaman opens on August 24, 2013 in Japan. No word on international release as of this time.
