Otakultura! Hero Face Off 2012

Welcome to another lookback event! In this article, we will recall Hero Face Off 2012 held in SM Megatrade Hall last July 7, 2012 in partnership with Anime Alliance. Hero Face Off is an annual event by Hero TV to invite their fellow viewers and the curious to a cosplay competition as well as to give something back in return to their watchers. Like with this year, they had a live viewing for their upcoming movies like Yu-Gi-Oh! and Gintama films that will be seen showing in Hero’s very own channel soon.

Like with the previous years, Hero’s cosplay event is split into three categories, the Kid’s, called Kid Squad Category, the group cosplay, called League of Heroes Category, and finally the main event called The Face Off. Cosplayers totalling more than a hundred joined the competition showcasing talent in craftsmanship and showmanship in stage as they all vied for the win. The grand winner from the Face Off category would go on to Singapore for the Singapore Toy, Game, & Comic Convention this coming Septembers 1-2 at Sands Expo & Convention Center, Marina Bay Sands.

The overall event was well organized and enjoyable with many sponsors holding games for the guests – oh did I mention that the entrance was free? Though this free entrance did have its limits, with the size limitations of the trade hall, it made a tight fit for visitors to roam around. Nevertheless the event went smoothly and on time, albeit early. Also, the entertainment value gained from seeing the good cosplays was well worth it, with many from the crowd supporting the contestants.

Here’s my cheers for Hero for a good event, and its well deserved return for another year and running for this event.
