Playkultur: New Persona Games Revealed!

Sep 1, 2011

Atlus fans prepare yourself for a lineup of games you’ve all been waiting for!

Some time ago, Atlus fans were teased with the website: p-atlus.jp with nothing but a yellow screen and the oh-so-familiar Persona 4 font. Speculations were thrown and passed here and there, but the most dominant theory was a remake of the 4th installment of the Persona series.

Just this week, Famitsu surprised the gaming world with a plethora of Atlus announcements, and thus confirming the speculations related to the p-atlus website.

First and foremost, the Persona 4 remake will be released for the Playstation Vita.
Dubbed “Persona 4: The Golden,” the remake will feature nearly twice as many voiceovers, a new character named Mari, a new opening song by Shoji Meguro, additional animations, and multiplayer assistance via wireless support. How the new character, Mari, impact the story is yet to be revealed. Atlus plans to release the game in Spring 2012 (which makes this game one of the earlier RPGs slated for the Vita).

Second, Atlus has joined forces with Arc System Works (developers of Guilty Gear and BlazBlue) to bring us a non-RPG Persona title! Yep, you heard it right! The two gaming giants are currently developing the very first Persona fighting game! “Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena” (ペルソナ4 ジ・アルティメット イン マヨナカアリーナ) hosts all of the characters from Persona 4 and in a tournament organized by Kuma. Persona 3 characters will also make a guest appearance on the roster of fighters. The game is due next Summer 2012 for the Playstation 3 and XBox 360 consoles.

UPDATE!
Atlus posted a high-definition gameplay video! Check it out!

Lastly, according to Famitsu, Persona 5 is already in the works! The Persona team has begun their planning stages. And the usual cast is still involved in the process, namely Katsura Hashino for director, Shigenori Soejima for character designs, and Shoji Meguro for the music.

Also, don’t miss the upcoming Persona 4 anime coming next season!

For now, stay tuned only here at Otakultura for the latest updates! Until next time!
