Onemanga’s Countdown to Demise
In a sad twist of fate, Onemanga is nearing its final days. Zabi, the Technical Administrator for the site and forums, had the crushing responsibility of posting the site’s final message on a popup. Onemanga is on its final week. The site will slowly be taken down during this time, up until everything is gone. The forums and the FB page are still alive and kicking though.
With the push for licensing of manga and anime, sites such as Onemanga, scanlation groups, and fansubbers have been in a rampant decline due to the legalities slowly on the rise. Onemanga is just one of its many victims. Corporate greed and stricter copyright laws will continue to prevail in the coming days as more of our beloved Japanese culture goes mainstream.
In a related note, I’m pretty sure everyone here knows that the fansub group, Dattebayo, has dropped Bleach to give way for Crunchyroll’s official streaming rights.
