Final Fantasy XIV is a Realm Reborn

Jul 27, 2012

Square Enix has completely overhauled Final Fantasy XIV from the ground up. Version 2.0, as it was called before, has now been titled as “A Realm Reborn: Final Fantasy XIV.” A teaser trailer has begun streaming at Square Enix’s official Youtube channel.

Square did good in taking down Final Fantasy XIV and improving it up to par with players’ standards. With the bad publicity and horrible gameplay that the first version had, this is Square’s second chance at redemption for their second MMORPG. The changes are quite visible, from the screenshots. But it still leaves a lot to be reviewed upon when the public beta goes up again.

Director/Producer Naoki Yoshida states:

“We believe that Final Fantasy XIV 2.0 can be considered the next real Final Fantasy game in the series. This re-release is based on three pillars that have also been the aspects the series is known for: high quality gameplay, great storyline and beautiful graphics. And on top of that, there´s our MMORPG community, which will consist of both PC players and also the PS3 players all over the world.

Cross-platform experience will be one of the MMORPG’s highlights, having a Playstation 3 version launching simultaneously with the PC version of the game.

No dates for the public beta have been released.
